Set in a cyberpunk Tokyo, A.D. Police follows a special unit combatting rogue, cyborg "Boomers." Officer Kenji Sasaki, traumatized by a recent partner's death, is sent off-duty to cool off. In a twist of fate, he gets into a bar fight with a German officer, only to learn the next day that the same man, Hans Kleif, is now his new, mandatory partner.
Thrust back into the field, the mismatched duo must navigate intense personal friction while facing life-or-death battles against malfunctioning Boomers. Their grudging partnership is tested daily by monstrous threats from the city's underbelly and corporate secrets. As they investigate increasingly violent incidents, they begin to uncover a deeper, more sinister conspiracy behind the Boomer rampages.
