Akihisa Yoshii, the “baka” referenced in the title, attends a school that strictly segregates its students into classes based on exam results. The brightest students are placed in A class, where they sit in reclining chairs with air conditioning, while Akihisa is relegated to F class, the lowest tier, where only low, worn‑out tables and straw tatami mats exist. In his sophomore year, Akihisa secretly admires Mizuki Himeji, one of the most intelligent girls in his cohort, who was assigned to F class after falling ill and testing poorly on exam day. The F class also includes Yuuji Sakamoto, the class president and long‑time friend who has partnered with Akihisa in mischief since freshman year.
