Candice White, who becomes known as Candy, was left on the doorstep of the “Pony Home” orphanage as an infant. The sisters named her after a doll in her basket that bore the name “Candy,” and gave her the surname White in reference to the snowstorm that carried her to safety. Life at the orphanage is tranquil and joyful, at least as tranquil as it can be with Candy around. She has a penchant for mischief, climbing trees, and challenging the best of her peers. Yet, tragedy soon begins to unfold.
