Chinka

Chinka is a proposed anime series from Danny Choo’s Studio Mirai, announced in 2010 but never produced. The story takes place in the rural town of Kiyotaki, nestled in a picturesque mountain valley that has been plagued by numerous arson cases over the past few years. The townspeople speak of the legendary arsonist Akaneko (赤猫), a figure who has repeatedly evaded the police, who have given up pursuing him. Their only defense is the town’s sole firefighting unit, the Mizuneko Fire Brigade (水猫). The Brigade’s aggressive, destructive methods have earned them both fear and resentment among the locals. Each night, Akaneko and the Mizuneko Fire Brigade clash fiercely, resulting in the destruction of many town buildings. The Brigade’s costly firefighting efforts have drained the town’s finances, pushing Kiyotaki toward bankruptcy. The crisis deepens until Chinka, a girl endowed with a superhuman ability to detect fire, arrives. With her powers, she aids the Mizuneko Fire Brigade in uncovering the true identity of Akaneko.
