Description
The Japanese rendition of the 1880 Neapolitan classic “Funiculì funiculà,” originally composed by Luigi Denza with lyrics by Peppino Turco, was performed by the vocal group Duke Aces. In 1961 this version appeared on NHK’s *Minna no Uta*, released under the title *Tozandensha* (“Mountain Railway”) and accompanied by shadow play from the Kakashiza Shadow Play Theatre. The recording is now considered lost media. Later, in June 1970, the Osaka Sumiyoshi Boys and Girls Choir presented the song on *Minna no Uta* using the original title.
