Description
Summer 1945. Three years into the war between Japan and the United States, Gen, a young boy, struggles to maintain a modest yet content life in Hiroshima. The city has oddly been spared from the atomic bombing that devastated many other Japanese cities. Food is scarce, and Gen’s family endures severe malnutrition, threatening his pregnant mother. With little leisure time, Gen and his younger brother Shinji help their parents at work, striving to keep their family afloat during these difficult times. Unaware of what the Americans have planned for Hiroshima, the day of August 6, 1945 brings a dramatic change to their lives.
