Based on a book of the same name, this anime depicts the atomic bombing of Hiroshima through the eyes of a middle‑school boy who keeps and breeds carrier pigeons. While he is outside the city training his birds, the bomb falls. Both the boy and his pigeon struggle to locate their respective families amid the ensuing chaos.
