Description
Hikoichi and his partner Osato are selling the watermelons they have harvested in front of the castle when they encounter Chuemon, the chief counselor. Chuemon is at his wits’ end after a messenger from a neighboring country presents him with an unreasonable demand. He is looking for someone wise and clever to help resolve the situation. Hikoichi offers his assistance, but only if Chuemon agrees to purchase all of the watermelons should Hikoichi succeed in a battle of wits. Using his ingenuity and unconventional methods, Hikoichi turns seemingly impossible problems into solvable ones. The story unfolds rhythmically, showcasing wisdom and courage, and the film earned a Gold award at the Tokyo Educational Film Competition.
