In an alternate post–World War II Japan, the nation is left fractured, unstable, and controlled by foreign powers. Civil unrest and violent terrorism spread through the streets, fueling chaos and distrust. During a failed operation to intercept a terrorist weapons transfer, Kazuki Fuse, an officer in an elite counter-terrorism unit, witnesses the darkest side of humanity. Unable to stop a young girl from detonating a suicide bomb, he is left shaken, traumatized, and viewed as a liability by his superiors. As a result, Fuse is sent back to the military academy for re-evaluation.
However, his return to training is only the beginning. Fuse soon becomes entangled in a complex web of political schemes and military power struggles that could shape the fate of the entire country. Walking a dangerous path between duty and emotion, humanity and instinct, he is forced to confront who he truly is, and which side of himself he will ultimately choose.
