Kachikachi Yama no Shouboutai is a monochrome 7‑minute short film produced by a Japanese animation studio at the request of the Fire Defense Agency to teach children the importance of firefighting. The story originates from the work of fire‑history historian Eiichi Kosaita. It is directed and illustrated by Toshiharu Obata, a veteran animator who also worked on the wartime feature film “Momotaro Sea God Soldier.” The plot follows a raccoon tanuki who organizes a fire brigade with fellow animals and leads them into a forest fire that is anthropomorphized throughout the narrative.
