Due to the dangers of dwindling resources and escalating pollution, the International Scientific Organization (ISO) was founded to improve environmental conditions worldwide. An international criminal organization called Gallactor, created by a mysterious extraterrestrial being known as Generalissimo X, seeks world domination by taking control of the ISO. Acting under the orders of its masked chief commander on Earth, Berg Katse, Gallactor unleashes robot monsters. To counter this threat, ISO scientist Dr. Nambu recruits five courageous youths into a combat squad named Gatchaman, the Science Commandos. Equipped with special scientific abilities and striking bird‑like costumes, the Gatchaman squad is ready to confront Gallactor wherever it may emerge.
