Description
The story is set in Tokyo during August–September 1923 (Showa 12). At that time, the city blends extremes of past and present, wealth and poverty, virtue and vice. Horse‑drawn carts coexist with motorcars; swords and pistols mingle; lords and businessmen walk side by side. A wealthy upper‑class woman becomes attracted to a handsome young man named Taka. Taka, together with his younger brother, appears to be allied, perhaps unwillingly, with elements of the city’s criminal underworld, the Yakuza. The woman’s young, lovely maid, Sara, also encounters Taka, sparking a conflict that can only lead to tragedy, passion, and dishonor. As the days unfold, the narrative continues…
