Description
This animated film is composed of five segments derived from Tezuka Osamu’s essay collection *Essay in Idleness of Insects*, where he compiled studies on insects. Though the collection is primarily academic, it also includes observational notes that lead to literary conclusions infused with mysterious or mythical imagery. Each of the five essays is presented in a distinct animation style, and following each segment a scene features a young Tezuka Osamu and a swallow‑tailed butterfly named “Oomurasaki.” The film portrays the boy’s frantic pursuit of Oomurasaki with a butterfly net, interwoven with dreamlike visions he experiences. It was screened at the exhibition *Tezuka Osamu: Images of the Past*.
