Les Miserables: Shoujo Cosette adapts Victor Hugo’s classic novel to an early‑19th‑century French setting. The story follows single mother Cosette as she struggles to find employment and a safe place to live. Because few employers hire single mothers, the pair are constantly turned away. When a promise of a better future in the city appears, Cosette is separated from her mother so a caretaker can watch over her while her mother works to earn money. Unfortunately the caretaker is a corrupt man who turns Cosette into an indentured servant. The kind mayor of the town where Cosette settles sees how such hardships harm children and families, and decides to intervene to protect them.
