McDull is not the brightest kid in the neighborhood, yet he persistently strives to do his best and make his mother proud. Although he may not seem destined for the great things his mother hopes for, McDull never gives up. The story centers on several tales from his childhood, narrated as a reflection by an adult McDull. These vignettes blend imaginative Cantonese language and abundant Hong Kong culture, ranging from a turkey dinner to dreaming of following in Lee Lai‑shan’s footsteps, and showcase McDull’s ups and downs while dealing with his demanding but devoted mother.
