After being abandoned by her parents, 11‑year‑old Miyori locks her heart away from the world and refuses any human contact. She is taken in by her grandmother, who lives near a forest. One day, Miyori ventures into the woods and feels an overwhelming loneliness that seems to have no cause. There, she encounters astonishing phenomena and gradually learns that the forest is far more than it appears.
