In the film a demon that once almost destroyed the world is revived. To prevent a repeat of that catastrophe, the demon must be sealed, and only Shion, a shrine maiden from the demon realm who can seal demons and predict human deaths, has the power to do so. Naruto is tasked with guarding her, but Shion predicts that Naruto will die. To avoid this fate, Naruto must leave Shion unprotected, yet the demon’s sole goal is to kill Shion, which would end the world. Naruto attempts to challenge the death prediction, but ultimately fails and is said to die in vain.
