Remaking the 1960 film in color, *Ni‑hiki no Sanma* follows a couple who sail by raft to a secluded desert island, bringing chickens and a dog with them. The island initially feels like paradise, as they establish a simple routine of farming, fishing, and enjoying grilled sanma roasted over an open fire. Their idyllic life is disrupted when a mustachioed scientist arrives on a raft powered by an abused pig. The scientist builds a robot and initiates the island’s industrialization. Though displeased, the couple chooses to accept the man’s technological intrusion.
