Description

In the early 18th century, during the Kyouhou era when merchant culture flourished, the red‑light district of Yoshiwara is home to the celebrated courtesan Usugumo, known for her beauty and spirited personality. In reality, she is the daughter of a Christianized prostitute and the shogun Yoshimune, but political turmoil prevents her from being with her father. Usugumo’s destiny shifts when she encounters the blond‑haired thief Kikunosuke. Together with him, a doctor named Aoto Touichirou, who employs the newly introduced Western medicine, and her beloved cat Kotetsu, she forms a band of thieves called the Kikugumi. Meanwhile, a member of a shadowy organization surfaces, intent on targeting Usugumo.
