PapA is a graduation project from 2010 by the Department of Animation at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts. The short examines the relationship between light, shadow, and presence. It argues that where a light source exists, any shadow confirms an object blocking that light; the disappearance of a shadow suggests the object has vanished. The film uses this premise to explore how shadows serve as proof of an object's existence and, conversely, how their absence signals its absence.
