Born from the DNA of the rarest Pokémon, Mew, the artificially created Mewtwo possesses immense power but no purpose. After a violent awakening, Mewtwo is used as a tool by Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, fueling its rage and resentment. Declaring itself the "world's strongest Pokémon", Mewtwo seeks revenge on humanity and lures Ash Ketchum, Pikachu, and other top trainers to its island fortress.
Under the guise of a battle tournament, Mewtwo reveals its true plan: to clone every Pokémon and trainer, creating a new, superior species to wipe out the originals. The ensuing battle between the clones and their heartbroken counterparts leads to a catastrophic escalation of power.
The film reaches its emotional climax when Ash rushes to stop the fighting, sacrificing himself in a burst of energy. This profound act of compassion moves Mewtwo and brings the conflict to an end. In its resolution, the movie delivers its central message: the strength found in the heart is more powerful than any genetic or psychic might. Mewtwo, having finally found an answer to its existential crisis, chooses to erase its memory and leave with its clones to find a new beginning.
