Running Boy: Star Soldier no Himitsu is an anime produced by Hudson Soft, the company behind the Star Soldier video game series. The series’ designer, Yoichi Takahashi, makes a cameo appearance and performs the theme songs. Coincidentally, the anime was released on the same day as the film Super Mario Brothers, another adaptation of a video game. Despite the connection, the film was a box‑office failure in Japan.
