In 1990, Bandai released a four‑episode OVA titled *SD Gundam Gaiden*, directed by Tetsuro Amino, known for his work on *Macross 7* and *SD Gundam's Counterattack*. The series is set in the medieval fantasy world of Suda Doaka and features beloved Gundam characters such as Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, alongside fantasy‑styled renditions of well‑known mobile suits. The plot follows the heroic Knight Gundam and his companions as they defend Suda Doaka against the malevolent forces of Satan Gundam and Sieg Zeon. Much of the action takes place in the Kingdom of Lacroa, a locale that also appears in other SD Gundam productions, including the 2003 television series *SD Gundam Force*. As with many older SD Gundam titles, *SD Gundam Gaiden* is not widely available today.
