In a distant future, a massive pillar of fog suddenly erupts at the South Pole, known as Jam, and acts as a gateway for an invading force. In response, the United Nations creates an Earth defense system. Among its elite, Fukai Zero serves in the main defense force and is assigned to the special 5th Flight Squadron. He pilots the Yukikaze, “windblown snow”, the premier tactical reconnaissance aircraft, tasked with gathering battlefield intelligence and returning safely to base. One day, as he nears the completion of a mission, an unidentified machine launches an attack on him.
