Description
Based on a Japanese children’s book by Yoshie Kawaura, this series follows Shiba‑wanko, a Shiba‑inu dog, and Miike‑nyanko, a calico cat, who share a classic Japanese‑style house complete with a tokonoma alcove. Shiba‑wanko is gentle and hardworking, handling all the cleaning, laundry, and cooking. Miike‑nyanko, on the other hand, is temperamental and less inclined toward housework. Together, they learn the manners and customs associated with events such as the proper way to treat guests, preparations for the Japanese New Year, and how to enjoy a kimono. Each chapter focuses on a specific aspect of traditional Japanese culture.
