Shinseiki Evangelion – Everything You Need to Know

Neon Genesis Evangelion (Shinseiki Evangelion) is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2015, fifteen years after a global catastrophe known as the Second Impact. Humanity faces a new threat in the form of the Angels, massive and highly destructive alien beings. To combat them, the United Nations-established organization NERV develops the Evangelion, a giant humanoid mecha capable of withstanding the Angels’ attacks.

The Evangelion units can only be piloted by a select group of teenagers, all born nine months after the First Angel appearance. Among them is Shinji Ikari, whose father, Gendo Ikari, oversees the NERV project. Shinji is reluctantly drawn into a series of battles and complex political and psychological struggles, confronting both the external threat of the Angels and the internal conflicts within himself and the people around him.

The series delves into themes of existentialism, identity, trauma, human relationships, and the moral and psychological consequences of warfare. It is renowned for blending intense action with deep psychological and philosophical exploration, presenting a narrative that challenges both its characters and the audience.
