Tao Hua Yuan Ji is a 3D CG short film that presents Peach Blossom Valley, known in Western culture as Shangri‑La, as the earthly paradise envisioned by the Dong Jin people. The film quietly portrays their longing to return to a happy and harmonious life. It is adapted from the poem “The Legend of Shangri‑La” by the famed Dong Jin poet Tao Yuan Ming, written more than a millennium ago. By blending Chinese traditional painting techniques and papercutting with computer graphics, IDMT produced a unique animation that captures the style and movement of the Shan‑Xi shadow‑puppet show.
