Fifteen‑year‑old Mon‑Mon, a country girl with aspirations of becoming a fashion designer, secures a position as an au pair for the up‑and‑coming designer Mrs. Kano, her baby daughter PePe, and her playful writer husband. The newborn PePe has the uncanny ability to animate toys and animals, creating whimsical chaos that the adults never seem to notice. Mon‑Mon’s idealistic job quickly turns into a hilariously chaotic battle of wits, a challenge she feels ill‑prepared to meet. Though sweet, hardworking, and kind, she is unsophisticated and unfamiliar with the world of talking stuffed animals and walking teddy bears. Eventually she decides to leave and return home, but the psychic baby, who has grown fond of her, devises a way to keep her from going.
