A very old crocodile, so ancient he had witnessed the building of the pyramids, is plagued by rheumatism and can no longer catch his food. In desperation he decides to eat his great‑grandson. Despite his thousands of years of longevity earning him great respect, the family decides he must be put down. Unable to bear the disrespect, the old crocodile says goodbye to the Nile. One day he encounters an octopus, who treats him to a variety of fish he has caught for him. When night falls, the crocodile cannot resist eating one of the octopus’s legs, and since then he has taken to helping himself to the octopus’s provisions.
