Urikupen Kyuujo-tai follows a team of young, heroic animals that rescue others in peril. The main characters are rabbit Seitaro Usagi, squirrel Risu, bear Kuma, and penguin Penguin, nicknamed U‑Ri‑Ku‑Pen. The group also includes a dog, a boar, a deer, a koala, a mouse, a seagull, and a lion. Each episode features a mission that spans a week of TV; the animals compete for a prize upon successful completion, and viewers are encouraged to write in and guess which creature will ultimately save the world by each Friday. The series was created by Mitsuru Kaneko and received a limited broadcast on select American local TV stations serving the Japanese community.
