The special follows the adventures of Don Matsugorou, a talking dog who lives with novelist Mr. Matsuzawa in Chiba Prefecture. Only Mr. Matsuzawa’s daughter, Kazuko, knows that Don can speak. When Don is injured after a clash with the neighbor’s nouveau‑riche mongrel, King, he must protect Chotaro, another dog who has been kidnapped, and along the way he may even find love with a fellow canine named Ogin.
