Evangelion × Transformers Collaboration Announced: Synergenex Prime Unit-01 Revealed

Fans of mecha anime and transforming robots have reason to celebrate: an official collaboration between Neon Genesis Evangelion and Transformers has been announced for 2026.

This crossover comes in the form of a unique action figure rather than an anime series or film, blending the iconic personalities and designs from both franchises.

Synergenex Prime Unit-01 Action Figure

The centerpiece of the announcement is the “Transformers X Evangelion Synergenex Series Evangelion Prime Unit-01.” This collectible reimagines the Autobots’ leader, Optimus Prime, with design elements inspired by EVA Unit-01 from Neon Genesis Evangelion. The figure features the recognizable purple and green color scheme and other aesthetic touches that honor both universes.

Pre-orders for this figure have already opened, and while pricing and exact availability may vary by region, early reports suggest a retail tag around $85 USD for the October 2026 release.

Celebrating Two Legendary Franchises

Takara Tomy’s collaboration arrives as part of its Synergenex branding initiative, designed to bring together beloved properties for special crossover projects. Evangelion is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and pairing it with the long-running Transformers brand, which itself is marking decades of influence, brings renewed excitement to fans of both series.

Past Crossovers and Larger Context

This is not the first time Transformers and Evangelion have intersected. Back in 2014, a special Masterpiece Optimus Prime toy was released in the colors and styling of EVA Unit-01. The new Synergenex figure expands on that legacy with fresh design and collector appeal.

While this initial crossover focuses on an action figure, both franchises continue to inspire cross-media projects and collaborations, from anime and toys to themed merchandise and promotional events.

What Fans Can Expect

  • Iconic Transformers design reworked in Evangelion style
  • Collectible figure with dual transformation modes
  • Release set for late 2026
  • Part of Takara Tomy’s ongoing Synergenex collaboration series

With both Evangelion and Transformers remaining influential in pop culture decades after their debuts, this crossover taps into fan enthusiasm for mech design, nostalgia, and inventive franchise mashups. Stay tuned for additional reveals as we get closer to the figure’s release window.
