Tokyo, Japan - October 2025 – The iconic Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise is marking its 30th anniversary with a series of special events, bringing both the classic anime and its films back to audiences in Japan.
Theatrical Revival: Evangelion Movies Return to the Big Screen As part of the “Monthly Eva EVANGELION 30th MOVIE Fest. 2025-2026,” all Evangelion films are being screened in select theaters across Japan. The festival kicked off on October 10, 2025, with the screening of Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth – DEATH(TRUE)² & REBIRTH version. Each film will be featured for one week, offering fans a unique opportunity to relive the saga on the big screen. The event will continue through February 2026, celebrating three decades of Evangelion’s groundbreaking impact on anime and pop culture.
Classic Anime Returns to Television In addition to the theatrical screenings, the original Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series made its return to Japanese television on October 3, 2025, airing on Television Kanagawa. This rebroadcast is a special highlight of the 30th-anniversary celebrations, allowing both longtime fans and new viewers to experience the series that redefined the mecha genre.
The 30th-anniversary events also include exclusive exhibits, merchandise releases, and community engagements, further solidifying Evangelion’s legacy as one of the most influential anime franchises of all time.
