A Kite

Kite, also known in Japan as A Kite (Japanese: A カイト), is a Japanese original video animation (OVA) written and directed by Yasuomi Umetsu. Originally released as two 35-minute episodes on VHS in 1998 (February 25 and October 25), later editions—including all three U.S. DVD releases—restructured the OVA into a feature-length film.

The story follows Sawa, a young schoolgirl whose parents were brutally murdered, leaving her orphaned in her early teens. Under the guardianship of two detectives, Akai and Kanie—who are also investigating the crime—Sawa is drawn into a dark world of assassination. On a date with a celebrity, she witnesses his aggressive confrontation with an elderly woman who disapproves of their relationship. In the aftermath, Sawa kills the celebrity, while the woman, desperately searching for her glasses, succumbs to a fatal heart attack.
