Description
Apfelland Monogatari is set in the picturesque, landlocked nation of Apfelland, bordered by Russia, Austria, and Germany. In its capital, Charlottenburg, a young boy named Vel encounters Frid, a girl who has been kidnapped after her grandfather’s abandoned mine is discovered to contain a valuable radium deposit. The prospect of the mine attracts a motley assembly of characters: an American entrepreneur eager to profit, a Polish woman posing as a man who hopes to fund the revolution, and representatives of the Apfelland Ministry who plot to ally with Germany. As Vel and Frid become entangled in these schemes, they hold the key to the mine’s secrets, thrusting them into the center of political intrigue and personal danger.
