Description
Mai is the protagonist of the film. She has a brother named Dai‑Chan, who is deaf and lives with a disability. Although Dai‑Chan behaves like a younger sibling, he is actually older than Mai, and he often asks her to lift him with a bright smile. One day, Mai attends an elementary school while Dai‑Chan attends a school for children with disabilities. They begin to communicate with each other, but Mai’s classmates bully her and draw a mocking portrait of Dai‑Chan on the blackboard. The incident shocks and hurts Mai. At the same time, their mother falls ill, and the family faces the prospect of sending Dai‑Chan to an orphanage for children with disabilities. Determined to keep him close, Mai resolves to take care of him herself.
