After the Second Impact, the only remaining part of Japan is Tokyo‑3, a city under constant attack by gigantic beings known as Angels that seek to wipe out humanity. More than eight years after losing contact with his father, Shinji Ikari receives a phone call that urgently summons him to NERV Headquarters, an organization that combats Angels using giant mechs called Evas. Shinji’s mission is to pilot Eva Unit 01 while teaming up with Ayanami Rei, the pilot of Eva Unit 00.
