Genius Party Beyond

Genius Party Beyond is the sequel to Genius Party, gathering most of the completed films that were left out of the original compilation. It includes: Gala (directed by Mahiro Maeda), where a massive object crashes near a village filled with strange creatures. A boy and a girl sense that the object is alive, and when they begin playing music, it starts to grow. Moondrive (directed by Kazuto Nakazawa) follows a group of violent criminals searching for a rumored treasure on Giants Island. After finding only disappointment, they unleash chaos and destroy the entire island. Wanwa the Doggy (directed by Shinya Ohira) tells the story of a young boy who, while his mother prepares to give birth to another child, experiences vivid and emotionally intense dreams that reveal his fears, loneliness, and inner turmoil. Through its experimental animation styles and deeply personal narratives, Genius Party Beyond showcases the creative freedom and artistic ambition of some of Japan’s most innovative animators.
