On September 26, 1959, Super Typhoon #15, also known as T5915, Vera, or the Isewan Typhoon, struck Japan’s coast with maximum winds of 305 km/h. The storm left more than 5,000 people dead or missing and injured over 30,000 others, making it the deadliest single‑typhoon disaster in Japan during the 20th century. The animated film was produced on the 30th anniversary of the tragedy to honor the deceased and commemorate the survivors.
