Description
A girl with a traditional Japanese hairstyle stands before a small man seated at a desk. The man remarks, “Women descended from tobacco,” to which the girl laughs and traps him beneath a glass pane. Angered, the man pulls a cigarette from a pipe and blows smoke toward her. The girl snatches the cigarette, places it beneath her book, and then the man threatens her with a gun. In response, she throws the cigarette into the yard. The man, now furious, attempts to shoot her, but the gun fails to fire. In the end, the man recounts the origins of tobacco. This film, the earliest recovered work by Noburō Oofūji, blends paper‑cut animation with live‑action footage.
