Akito, a reluctant fighter who grew up watching the mecha series Gekiganger 3, prefers to cook rather than pilot a giant robot. His world is shattered when a mysterious event destroys his home on Mars and instantly transports him to Earth. Confused by the inexplicable circumstances, he follows a chance encounter with Yurika, the determined captain of the private battleship *Nadesico*, hoping to learn the truth. To stay close to her, Akito signs on as the ship’s cook. Equipped with nanite implants that grant him the ability to control mechas, he becomes a handy backup pilot for the *Nadesico*’s mecha fleet. The crew he joins is a motley group of misfits, otakus, and ditzes, yet each member is actually a handpicked expert. Together, they embark on a mission driven by vengeance for Mars and a quest for answers.
