Description
Clara visits her Aunt Gerda and Uncle Drosselmeyer, where her aunt frightens her with tales of the Ragman, a mysterious figure who turns children into mice if they refuse to go to bed on time. The Ragman prowls over sleeping children, ever searching for new victims. Just before Clara is about to sleep, her eccentric uncle presents her with a wooden nutcracker doll. He feels embarrassed because the only flawless part of the doll is its heart, yet Clara adores it. She falls asleep, only to be awakened by the sound of mice squeaking.
