Description
On August 6, 1945, an atomic bomb fell on Hiroshima. That morning, a young boy named Shigeru left his home to work as a building excavator, carrying a bento box prepared by his mother. He never returned. Later, Shigeru’s mother discovered his remains and found the bento box beside them completely blackened and carbonized. The story centers on this charred lunchbox, which is now displayed in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. The anime adapts the novel *Makkuro na Obentou* (The Charred Lunchbox) by Kodama Tatsuharu, illustrated by Kitajima Shinpei.
