Panda Kopanda (Panda! Go Panda!) is a 30‑minute film released in 1972. Hayao Miyazaki conceived the original idea, wrote the script, designed the layouts, and performed key animation, while Isao Takahata directed the project. The plot follows a young girl named Mimiko, who must care for her home while her grandmother is away. In 1973 a sequel, Panda Kopanda: Amefuri Saakasu no Maki (Panda! Go Panda! & the Rainy‑Day Circus), continued the story and was produced by the same creative team. The title literally translates to “Panda, Baby Panda,” and it has been released in North America under the name Panda Go Panda.
