J‑pop idol group CHAM! has entertained its fans for two years, but every good thing must end. The group must let one of its members, Mima Kirigoe, leave to pursue an acting career. Although her departure elicits mixed reactions, Mima hopes her fans will continue to support her. After she leaves, Mima’s life changes dramatically. Determined to shed her pop‑idol image, she takes a role in a crime‑drama series, and her acting career becomes increasingly demanding and taxing for both Mima and her manager, Rumi Hidaka. An obsessed fan who cannot accept that Mima has abandoned her idol role stalks her; an anonymous website begins impersonating her life in intricate detail; and CHAM! appears to thrive without her. Each unsettling development drives Mima deeper into madness, blurring the line between reality and fantasy.
