Yomigaeru Sora was originally planned to feature a female protagonist and sharper animation. However, after Yuji Matsukura (J.C.Staff Executive Officer, Head of Production), Katsushi Sakurabi (Director), and Fumihiko Takayama (Series Composition) overrode Producer Kiyoshi Sugiyama, the story was revised to focus on a male lead with simpler animation. Sakurabi’s original idea was developed into a pilot episode, which was included with the seventh volume of the Limited Edition DVD Box Set.
