Salamander is an anime that adapts the Gradius video game series into three distinct stories. In the first tale, the planet Latis is besieged by the Space Dragon Salamander, a war‑torn world overrun by the Bacterian horde. With defenses failing and hope dwindling, three heroes from the planet Gradius team up with Lord British to defend their beloved home. The second story is a prequel: a young woman from a distant world delivers a dire warning to Gradius and the Bacterians, and the narrative follows how three individuals rise to become heroes across the galaxy. The final episode jumps to the future, after a peace treaty has been signed; one of the heroes is captured by the Bacterians, and the military might of Gradius and the remaining heroes must mount a rescue to prevent a fate worse than ...
