Summer Wars

Summer Wars follows Kenji Koiso, a timid eleventh-grade student and talented mathematician, who is invited by his classmate and secret crush, Natsuki Jinnouchi, to visit her family’s estate in Nagano during the summer. Upon arrival, Kenji learns that his “summer job” is to pose as Natsuki’s fiancé and participate in the celebration of the 90th birthday of the family matriarch, Sakae Jinnouchi, a spirited and influential figure.

While navigating the complex social dynamics of the large and traditional Jinnouchi family, Kenji receives a mysterious challenge on his cell phone related to Oz, a popular virtual network that controls much of modern society. When a rogue artificial intelligence hijacks the network, Kenji and the family must work together to prevent a catastrophic cyberattack that threatens both the virtual and real worlds.

The film explores themes such as family bonds, responsibility, the intersection of technology and society, and the courage to face unexpected challenges. It combines a personal coming-of-age story with a high-stakes technological thriller, emphasizing teamwork, ingenuity, and resilience.
