Tsurupika Hagemaru‑kun follows Hagemaru Hageda, a fourth‑grade student living in Japan with his parents. As the only child of a pair of penny‑wise parents, Hagemaru and his family spend every effort on saving money, which forms the central comedic premise of the series. He shares a dog named Pesu, who frequently comments on how stingy the family is and how little food he receives. Hagemaru’s best friend is Masaru Kondo, and he harbors a crush on his classmate Midori. Each episode centers on Hagemaru’s daily school life, his interactions with the teacher, referred to as his “miss”, and his friends. At the end of every episode, a montage of the top ten highlights is shown.
