Tony Stark, CEO of a major weapons manufacturer and renowned physicist, engineer, and inventor, is injured by shrapnel from one of his own weapons. While held captive by terrorists, he develops the Iron Man suit and uses it to escape. From that moment, he vows to make the most of his second chance and to change the world for the better. To pursue this goal, he travels to Japan, where Lab 23 has made significant progress on building the Arc Station, a non‑fossil‑fuel power plant. Stark intends to join the project, announcing his retirement from the Iron Man persona, and at the same time introduces a line of mass‑produced Iron Men to which he will pass on his duties.
